StaPoTech BVBA
Together with his daughters, Han Stakebrand runs StaPoTech, a company in stage technology in Belgium. Founded more than 100 years ago by the Stakebrand family, originally as an Amsterdam art smithy. Due to the growth, it was decided in the 2000s to open a Belgian branch, Stakebrand BVBA. After the start of the economic crisis, this turned out to be a golden move because the Dutch company would then go bankrupt. Thanks to the Belgian branch, StaPoTech can be started.

Same look and one control
“At STYLE I got the opportunity to buy a 2nd hand STYLE sofa. Soon the 2nd hand machine was exchanged for a new CNC lathe and a CNC milling machine was purchased. In addition to the simple control, the conviction was mainly in the price-quality ratio, but the most important thing is the accuracy of the machines, ”says Han. “Because we make single pieces and small series for our customers, the STYLE machines are perfect. We are very satisfied with the efficient Dutch service, malfunctions are quickly resolved due to the short travel time. This is sometimes different with machines from abroad. They actually always have the necessary parts in stock. ”

The first impression really counts
“If anyone ever doubts whether to buy a STYLE machine, I say, ‚just do it!‘ They are high-quality machines with a simple, well thought-out control system made by a Dutch company ”, laughs Freek. “I heartily recommend it to everyone. Any problems are solved quickly and professionally.”

Polyketting: the story
After a warm welcome, Ton de Groot, director of Polyketting, started immediately. After the bankruptcy in 2011, Polyketting had (and wanted!) To modernize. Where they started with conventional lathes, the urge for CNC machines grew. In addition, more small series are now being produced at Polyketting. After contacting STYLE and with several employees visiting the STYLE factory, the switch was made to CNC. STYLE turned out to be a perfect fit: a purely Dutch company and technically good machines. The new 510 lathe has been working overtime since the end of March. „But“, says Ton, „first go back to the beginning.“

Flexibility from engineering to production
“And, our biggest customer is just with us in the building. Intralox in Zelhem makes, among other things, mats for transporting shrimp, but also large sorting systems for companies such as Zalando or Amazon. ” It is a real rear-end company: the raw parts come in and the complete product comes out and is immediately ready for transport to the customer.

Now in 2017, 60 people are now working at Polyketting and the move to about 500 meters away has been in full swing for over two years. “In March 2016, the roll maker moved to the new building and gradually the rest of the production is also being relocated. For example, the second laser will be moved this year, ”says Ton. “And last March we bought another new piece of land because the growth is going unbelievably fast”.

After this wonderful story, Ton takes us through the current building to the new building. We were proud to be given a tour, from the office to the large production hall where work is still going on between the companies for the departments that are still at the ‚old‘ address. Then we walk on to the place where the STYLE machines are set up. Here we meet the turners Niels and Gertie. Niels explains: “I had some CNC experience, but after half a day of training on the STYLE lathe, I was able to get started myself. I am very satisfied with the machine, it works quickly and very accurately. ” Gertie shows that even the design of STYLE can still be changed: “We have placed extra metal plates at the back, which prevents damage to the sheet metal. This keeps the machine as new ”, Gertie explains.

Innovation: multi-track buffer table
Polyketting does not sit still and is busy with innovation on a daily basis. Processes must run more efficiently, costs must be kept low and the customer wants quality, effectiveness and simplicity.

An accumulator or buffer table has been presented for three years now. (June 2017, ed.) This is a conveyor belt that can absorb short congestion itself. This can reduce the number of line interruptions by about 5 to 10 percent. Polyketting supplies a complete buffer and transport system that they design, manufacture and install themselves. Over the past three years, Polyketting has further developed a new generation of buffer tables under its own management, for which there is great international interest and for which patents have been granted. These types of systems are mainly used in the food industry, dairy industry and the non-food industry. A beautiful product of which the STYLE machines can provide a small part.

Peaplastics B.V. is a well-known company in plastics processing where the customer’s wishes always come first. They specialize in the processing, manufacture and supply of high-quality plastic semi-finished products to end products. We are in talks with Harald Schellekens, co-owner of Peaplastics.

“PEA Plastics is a reliable partner that can deliver quickly and is very flexible in the production process,” says Harald. “We have a very diverse customer base, such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, but also the food industry. In addition to processing and processing the usual plastic raw materials such as POM, PTFE (Teflon), Plexiglass, PVC, nylon, PES and PEEK, PEA is also able to process and transform high-quality raw materials such as Torlon, PSU and PEI as desired into the desired end product. Customer satisfaction is central, just like with STYLE. Together we do not believe in impossibilities, but in functional solutions for all customer requirements.

Market leader in the Netherlands
Machinefabriek Harderwijk started as a repair company and later converted by Karel Prakken into the machine factory as it is today. By working the market on the basis of demand and not on the basis of their own production possibilities, they have become a well-known name in the manufacturing industry. „With over 3,000 customers throughout Europe, more than half of which are in the Netherlands and Belgium, we are the market leader in the production of trapezoidal thread,“ says Karel Prakken.

After a warm welcome by Erik Bijvank of Luma Verspaning, he immediately started work. More than nine years ago (December 2018, ed.) Luma Hengelo started the machining branch Luma Verspaning as a separate BV. In 2009 Luma Verspaning actually started with one lathe and one milling machine from STYLE. Now in 2018 there are eight machineries between the ages of 22 and 63, and the capacity is increasing more and more.

Future
Two new machineries were hired in 2018. Erik also notices the shortage of technical personnel. “However, your network is very important. Perhaps someone feels out of place somewhere or would like to take a step in his or her career. Also, don’t forget that salary doesn’t have to mean everything to get a job. In recent years I have especially noticed that flexibility, an extra day off and offering a realistic future perspective have become more important ”, says Erik.

Also Stuiver Toer- en Freeswerk B.V. chose various STYLE machines. They turn and mill various machine parts with the machines in steel, stainless steel and plastic. In January 2011, Doeke Holtrop took over the company from the Stuiver family. Mr. Holtrop, JD Engineers, has been a loyal customer of Stuiver Turning and Freeswerk from Friesland for 10 years. “In addition to machining operations, you can also contact JD Engineers for welding, drilling, tapping, wire cutting, keyway grooving and broaching. Quality, delivery time and price are well balanced and one of the spearheads of our company is being able to respond directly to the wishes of the customer, ”said Mr. Holtrop. “We are flexible and have short delivery times. Customization is also provided. What is defective and no longer available can be repaired or copied. Constructions can be devised and made in collaboration with the customer. In short, we think along with you for suitable solutions. ”

A second customer from beautiful Friesland is REMA Environmental Machinery from Ferwerd. REMA develops and produces machines for the agriculture and green sector. A mechanical leaf extractor (chemistry-free leaf destruction) for potato cultivation is the showpiece. This machine is sold all over the world.

Almost the entire production of the machine is outsourced, except for the turning and the assembly of the complete machine. “We do the turning ourselves to keep the quality as high as possible and the production time as low as possible. In addition, we develop many (prototype) machines where flexibility and speed in adjustments are important, ”says engineer Wilko Regnerus, who owns REMA with his brother Piet.

The Regnerus brothers have their roots in agriculture. “REMA originated from contract work, contracting and construction history. The drive to build machines that make a major contribution to sustainability and a safe food supply are the starting point here.

Lightyear’s goal is to solve the two biggest drawbacks of electric cars: the range and the charging process. “The car industry did not take this innovation up adequately enough, so the founders of this company thought: we are going to do it ourselves. The plan was developed in 2016 and Lightyear was founded, ”says Marijn, prototype engineer at Lightyear.

Marijn takes us through the company. “At the moment (February 2019, ed.) The production line is being built in this hall, where we want to assemble 1000 cars within three years,” says Marijn. A four-storey office will be built at the front of the building, so that everything will soon be available in one building. More than 140 people now work at Lightyear, with four departments really focusing on the construction and development of the car. The goal is to build multiple prototypes this year so that each department can get started to optimize its share in the car. The first prototypes should be ready in the summer of 2019 and the Lightyear One should be on Dutch roads in 2020.

Marijn started at Lightyear in May 2018 and was commissioned to furnish the workshop according to her own ideas and insights. In this workshop parts are made for functional prototypes. In addition to a number of 3D printers, there are also two Style machines: a lathe and a milling machine. “I was really looking for machines that are very easy to program and that are suitable for single pieces. We make a maximum of four different parts at a time here, ”says Marijn. “With this in mind I started searching the internet and came across Style. After I was at Style and had a demonstration by Ariean, everything met my expectations. The machines are suitable for exactly what we make. ” The reason for having our own workshop is simple: “We want to keep as much of this technology in-house as possible and not just hand over our intensive engineering. We buy really specialist parts because you can’t be the best at everything, ”says Marijn.

Schipper Techniek is truly a family business. Started in 1981 with the aim of relieving companies technically. They have become a household name in Twente with no fewer than 3 BV’s, 5 branches and their own employment agency. This allows Schipper to take care of all their customers‘ concerns. There are currently 128 permanent employees divided over these companies. Back to STS: “In 1998 Schipper Technisch Serviceburo was founded in order to be able to offer an even broader service package. The focus was on Service and Maintenance and at one point more than 60 people were at work ”, says Marco. The company has since been divided into four separate disciplines: machine building, machining / construction, process technology and Service / Maintenance. All these disciplines are intertwined and turning and milling work is necessary everywhere to be able to work efficiently. “At the time, we started the machining department very small. The machining department was part of our Service and Maintenance department, ”says Marco. „We started with three conventional banks that we had to do with.“
